Two more major retailers are preparing to open in Buckeye as the city's newest commercial development continues to expand.
Dick's Sporting Goods in the Buckeye Commons retail development – next to Costco off Verrado Way – is scheduled to officially open July 1, according to information provided to InBuckeye.
The sporting goods retailer will become one of the latest national brands to establish a presence in the growing shopping center.
Before the official opening, the store plans to hold a public soft opening, although a specific date has not yet been announced.
The opening follows the upcoming debut of another major retailer in the development. Home Depot is scheduled to open its Buckeye Commons location on June 18.
Dick's Sporting Goods will offer a wide selection of athletic apparel, footwear, outdoor recreation equipment and sports gear. The store's arrival is expected to further strengthen Buckeye Commons as a regional shopping destination and provide residents with additional retail options closer to home.
Details regarding a grand opening celebration or ribbon-cutting ceremony have not yet been finalized. Company representatives said they are still determining whether an official opening event will be held and plan to provide additional information in the coming weeks.
The addition of Dick's Sporting Goods marks another milestone for Buckeye Commons, which has attracted several national retailers as Buckeye continues to experience rapid residential and commercial growth.
The two major retailers follow a string of other openings at the Exit 120 interchange on Interstate 10.
Target opened two weeks ago followed days later by Marshalls and Home Goods in the Verrado Marketplace shopping center north of I-10.
