Construction is underway on a new Home Depot store at Buckeye Commons Shopping Center, located just east of Costco and north of Pathfinder Academy.
The home improvement retailer is bringing its newest location to the southeast area of Verrado Way and Interstate 10, adding to the city’s expanding retail corridor.
While city officials confirmed the project has broken ground, they have not provided a direct comment or statement on the development. An opening date has not yet been announced, and further details are being directed to Home Depot.
According to the 2024 Resident Retail Survey conducted by Buckeye’s economic development department, Home Depot ranked third among the top 10 most desired retail chains in the city, surpassed only by Target and T.J. Maxx.
The new store is part of Buckeye’s continuing commercial growth, with national retailers increasingly choosing locations in the rapidly growing city.
Home Depot purchased 11.14 acres at Buckeye Commons on April 7 for $7.7 million from a subsidiary of developer Sunbelt Investment Holdings Inc., according to Tempe-based Vizzda LLC. The company has since applied for a building permit valued at $11.6 million for a 137,347-square-foot store at 20410 W. Roosevelt St., which will join Costco as a major anchor in the shopping center, the Phoenix Business Journal first reported.
