The Buckeye Fire Department created Battalion 702, the city’s second, earlier this week to better serve Buckeye’s growing population.
Promoted to Battalion Chief are Corry Reddin, Scott Balak and David Burtch, according to information provided by the Buckeye Fire Department.
“Collectively, these three leaders bring an impressive 67 years of fire service experience to the role,” said Rayne Gray, assistant fire chief.
The creation of Battalion 702 represents an “important investment in public safety, improving command coverage, strengthening operational span of control and ensuring timely leadership response across the growing community,” according to a statement released on Tuesday. “These promotions reflect the caliber of leadership within our organization.”
“Chiefs Reddin, Balak and Burtch have each demonstrated a commitment to service, professionalism, and operational excellence. Their experience will be instrumental as we continue to grow and meet the needs of our city,” the department stated. “The Buckeye Fire-Medical-Rescue Department congratulates Battalion Chiefs Reddin, Balak and Burtch on this well-earned achievement and looks forward to the leadership they will provide in Battalion 702.”
Also announced on Tuesday are the promotions to captain of Steve Gompf, Jeremy Dowden, Tony Mallaro, Cole Yohn and Eric Bridges.
“These promotions support the department’s continued growth and commitment to firefighter safety, operational readiness, and effective incident management,” fire officials stated.
Battalion Safety Officers play a vital leadership role by supporting emergency scene operations, monitoring firefighter safety, enhancing accountability, and assisting command staff during critical incidents.
While the two battalions support each other, they generally are divided to cover the city geographically in the northwest and southeast parts of Buckeye.
