Buckeye residents got their first look at the first regular City Council meeting of 2026 with the release of the agenda on Wednesday.
Among the items city council members will address during their Jan. 6 meeting are a four-story Marriott hotel near the Miller Road interchange at Interstate 10.
The hotel hinges on approval of a change to land development definitions to allow for hotels in the area. The issue came before the city’s planning and zoning commission earlier in December, where it was recommended for approval.
The project is under development by Keyur Patel of 1929 Hospitality LLC at Miller and Durango roads.
A public hearing on the project is part of the 6 p.m. meeting agenda.
Other agenda items include the following:
Council to take action on the 2026 Buckeye Legislative Priorities. The Priorities reflect Buckeye's values and the City's commitment to protecting the character of the community and "high quality of life for residents," according to the agenda released on Wednesday.
Council to take action on the City of Buckeye 2025 Integrated Water Master Plan update. A peer review of the draft plan was conducted by engineers familiar with Buckeye, Buckeye developers, and the homebuilder's association. The final 2025 plan builds upon the previous master report identifying the water resources, water, wastewater, and reclaimed water infrastructure needed for the City to grow through 2040. Further, the plan establishes the road map for future infrastructure needs including treatment, conveyance, storage and pumping, according to the agenda released on Wednesday.
