No Extreme Heat Warning was active for Buckeye as of Wednesday morning. However, residents should continue taking precautions as the heat intensifies. The National Weather Service issues those warnings when dangerously hot temperatures are expected, even by local standards.
Heat-related illnesses increase during extreme heat. Overexposure can cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion, which can develop into heat stroke without intervention.
Residents should drink plenty of water, limit strenuous outdoor activity, and move work or exercise to the early morning or evening. Lightweight, loose-fitting clothing can also help reduce the risk of heat illness. Never leave children or pets inside a parked vehicle.
