Following an impromptu 46-minute executive session, the Buckeye City Council approved the purchase of some 4 acres during its regular meeting Tuesday.
The land, located at MC-85 and Baseline Road, is currently owned by Win Oil Company, a Flagstaff-based petroleum wholesaler. Once purchased by the city for an amount not to exceed $1.5 million, the land is slated for a maintenance facility and accompanying site improvements including adjacent roadways, drainage and landscaping. According to city documents, this usage is not set in stone yet, however.
“Benefits include investments into the growing downtown area, installation of public infrastructure and an investment for city strategic purposes,” read city documents.
The item was originally included in the consent agenda for the May 6 meeting, to be voted on collectively in one vote by council. However, at the meeting, District 1 Councilmember Tony Youngker requested that the item be discussed first in a private executive session. Following the session, the item was approved unanimously with one modification from Youngker.
“The motion would include that the city would not close on that transaction prior to coming back to the city council and having an executive session on the matter,” he added.
More information on the purchase approval can be found here.

So why did he want the meeting held in private?
He got somthing to hide that he didn’t want city constituents to know about? That man has questionable ethics as a council member if you ask me. Same with the mayor, it has been said he owns a construction company I would like to know how many contracts fax his company been awarded from the city of Buckeye. I just think they are shady. Only my opinion tho
