Buckeye’s ‘Movie in the Park’ Series Returns

Residents of Buckeye are invited to enjoy a series of outdoor movie nights in three local parks this autumn. The 'Movie in the Park' series, organized by the Community Services Department, will feature family-friendly films, food trucks, activities, and giveaways across three weekends in September and October. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the screenings under the stars.

Event Schedule

1. Kung Fu Panda 4

  • Location: Sundance Park
  • Date and Time: Saturday, 7th September 2024, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.
  • Film: Kung Fu Panda 4

The series kicks off with Kung Fu Panda 4. In this latest installment, Po, the Dragon Warrior, returns to the Valley of Peace to fulfill his destiny as a spiritual leader after facing numerous adversaries in his previous adventures. Before the movie, the Asian American Culture and Art Association of Arizona will entertain attendees with traditional Chinese dance performances, demonstrations of Chinese musical instruments, and a Tai Chi presentation.

2. IF

  • Location: Festival Park
  • Date and Time: Saturday, 5th October 2024, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.
  • Film: IF

The second event will feature IF, a story about a young girl who discovers her ability to see people's imaginary friends and embarks on a magical quest to reunite them with their creators. Before the screening, Master Puppet Maker Connie Galeener will host a puppet-making workshop where children can craft their puppet versions of imaginary friends.

3. The Garfield Movie

  • Location: Tartesso Sports Park
  • Date and Time: Saturday, 12th October 2024, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.
  • Film: The Garfield Movie

The final movie in the series is The Garfield Movie, where the famous lasagna-loving cat, Garfield, teams up with his canine companion Odie and his estranged father Vic for a high-stakes adventure. Before the film, attendees will have the chance to explore original Garfield comic strips and register for a library card through the Bookmobile. A fun pre-show activity will also invite the audience to cheer for either Team Odie or Team Garfield.
