City of Buckeye Hosts Public Meeting on Downtown Streetscape Plans
Buckeye, AZ – The City of Buckeye is inviting residents and local businesses to attend a public meeting to discuss the development of the Downtown Specific Area Plan. The meeting, scheduled for Thursday, 22 August at 5:30 p.m., will be held at Buckeye City Hall, located at 530 E. Monroe Ave.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the city's plans to enhance the downtown area by creating a more inviting, pedestrian-friendly environment. Discussions will include strategies for optimizing space for parking, parklets, and landscaping.
The city has recently completed some restriping of Monroe Avenue, featuring new crosswalks, parallel parking, and a reduced speed limit. This project marks the first phase of a broader streetscape plan aimed at making downtown Buckeye more vibrant and welcoming. Future phases will introduce parklets, enhanced landscaping, and wider sidewalks.
Residents are encouraged to watch an informational video explaining the new street markings and visit buckeyeaz.gov/streetscape for more details. Community members are also invited to participate in the upcoming meeting to help shape the future of downtown Buckeye.
