The Buckeye Police Department’s K9 units have been in the spotlight this week, most recently with a visit by K9 Drax to Blue Horizons Elementary School.
On Wednesday, Echo, another BPD K9 officer, made news by returning to duty after recovering from injuries sustained during an arrest on Nov. 21.
Police said they think Echo bit down on some debris during the incident, causing him to lose one of his front teeth and chip a canine tooth.
On Saturday, BPD posted photos to social media showing K9 Drax during a recent visit to Blue Horizons Elementary School.
Drax demonstrated to students how police work together.
“Buckeye Police K9s are skilled locators whether that's locating people or substances,” the post states. “They also play a role in helping the department connect with our community from local schools to events around town.”
