The Buckeye Police Department has received a $20,000 grant to help fund impaired driving enforcement efforts through next spring, according to a release from the city.
The grant, awarded by the DUI Abatement Council in partnership with the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, will cover more than $14,000 in officer overtime and more than $5,000 in employee-related expenses for the 2026 fiscal year.
Police officials said the funding will allow Buckeye officers to partner with regional agencies to increase traffic enforcement throughout the city, to reduce serious and fatal crashes caused by impaired driving and other violations.
“Impaired driving puts everyone at risk and continues to be a top enforcement priority,” the department said in a statement. “We thank the DUI Abatement Council and the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for supporting proactive traffic enforcement and community education to keep our roads safe.”
The department plans to use the funds to support ongoing task force operations and boost coverage during targeted enforcement periods.
