A man is in custody after an overnight shooting that left another man injured near Maricopa Road and Sunset Point Boulevard, according to a Buckeye press release.

Officers responded to a shots-fired call just after 1 a.m. last night. Police said the victim told them he was sitting in his SUV with a woman he had met online when a man opened fire on the vehicle. The woman got out, and the victim drove a short distance away to call 911.

The victim, who had a gunshot wound, was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury, according to police.

Investigators located the woman at a nearby home and learned she lived there with a man in his 20s. That man was later interviewed and arrested on charges connected to the shooting. His name will be released once he is booked into jail, police said.
