Buckeye police said Tuesday they arrested two brothers in connection to multiple high-dollar thefts from local AutoZone stores.
Mark Perez, 32, is accused of entering the stores to steal merchandise. His brother, 28-year-old Alan Perez, is accused of driving the getaway vehicle. Both were arrested and booked on theft and drug charges.
“On three separate occasions, from Dec. 29 through Jan. 2, the same man was reported entering the AutoZone locations on Watson Road and Indian School Road,” Buckeye Police stated in a prepared statement released to InBuckeye.
Police stated that tools were taken before the man left in a black Volvo SUV with no license plate.
“Officers with the Impact Team used resources from the Real Time Information Center to locate a vehicle that had been seen near the stores around the time of the thefts and had the same unique features with a mounted license plate,” police stated. “The plate number was entered into a database as part of the ongoing investigation.”
On Saturday, Buckeye Police received an alert from a license plate reader that the suspect vehicle had entered the city, according to Tuesday’s statement.
Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
