Buckeye was named as one of the top up-and-coming cities by Home & Garden Television, according to analysis from the U.S. Census Bureau and nonpartisan economic reports.
HGTV recently published a list of the top 30 up-and-coming cities in the United States, with Buckeye edging closer to the top of the report.
Coming in at the fourth city listed, Buckeye was named for its growth potential and proximity to outdoor recreation.
"This town’s population grew more than 15% in two years, luring in outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. Skyline Regional Park and Estrella Mountain Regional Park offer miles and miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails. The nearby Desert Botanical Garden is wildly popular, too, with more than 50,000 desert plants on display in the red rocks. Newcomers will also find affordable housing and very good schools," the report claims.
The report examined various factors, including healthcare, proximity to jobs, income, outdoor recreation and affordable housing. It leveraged census data and the Milken Institute's report on the best-performing cities nationwide to create this list.
Queen Creek edged out Buckeye, which is also growing rapidly in the East Valley. Neighboring city Goodyear was ranked 15th, with analysts mentioning recreation and its 10% growth in recent years as key contributors.
