The city of Buckeye's annual Reduce the Commute job fair Oct. 14 brought more than 500 attendees together with 47 West Valley employers, resulting in more than 50 on-the-spot hires. These are preliminary numbers, said Deputy Director of Communications John O'Halloran.

According to data from the Maricopa Association of Governments, more than 88% of Buckeye residents commute out of the city for work and 74% of working adults commute at least 30 minutes each way.
