Average gas prices in Buckeye dropped about a nickel in the last few days, but remain among the highest in the country.
The average price of a gallon of gas today was $4.86 at local stations, almost $1 higher than the national average of $3.98.
According to national price watchers, prices around the country increased about 10 cents per gallon over the last week.
"Crude oil prices remain high as the Iran conflict nears the 4-week mark," states a AAA news report. "The national average could reach $4/gallon in the coming days for the first time since August 2022."
Gasoline demand is also on the rise, according to AAA, sparked by the spring break season around the country.
California remains the high cost leader with drivers paying between $5.50 and nearly $6 per gallon on average. The lowest prices are in the Midwest and along the Gulf Coast, where a gallon of gas can be found for as low as $2.85.
