A Buckeye police officer patrolling near Miller and Maricopa Roads on New Year’s Day arrested a woman with an active warrant and seized over 280 fentanyl pills.
The officer located the woman, who was walking in the area carrying a grocery bag. After confirming the warrant, which was for drug possession, officers detained her. A search of the grocery bag revealed the fentanyl pills, police said in a statement.
The woman has not yet been named publicly.
The Buckeye Police Department said it remains committed to keeping dangerous drugs off the streets. In addition to its patrol officers, the department has two investigators assigned to the Maricopa County Drug Suppression Taskforce, a team focused on combating drug trafficking operations throughout the valley.
Just before Christmas, Buckeye PD seized 8,000 fentanyl pills in a traffic stop and arrested four people.
